The materials are the heart of our work. Sabin's product architecture is designed to complement the strength of PET felt, not work around it. Our proprietary cuts and folds allow us to build with intention, using only what's necessary and avoiding the introduction of excess materials. By combining carefully sourced materials with creative engineering, we work smarter, not harder.
We build with post-consumer recycled PET felt that is both SCS™ and OEKO-TEX® certified. As a powerful acoustic absorber, PET absorbs sound energy and neutralizes distractions in spaces with open concepts, hard surfaces, or high capacity.

Construction
Craftsmanship defines the way we build. Our product design works in harmony with the structural integrity of our felt, employing proprietary cuts and folds to create precise, rigid forms that are secured through sewn construction. This sewn construction is intentionally visible across nearly every fixture as a signature detail that reflects our process and gives Sabin its trademark tailored aesthetic.

Certified
All Sabin products are GREENGUARD Gold certified, meeting strict emissions standards for healthier indoor air. This third-party certification supports LEED, WELL, and other sustainability goals, giving specifiers confidence in every project. For our reps, it means peace of mind—every SABIN product meets the highest standard for low chemical emissions.
Declare Red List Free
Declare screens a product’s ingredients directly against the Living Building Challenge (LBC) Red List, saving project teams from the arduous task of vetting products by hand. The LBC Red List contains the “worst in class” materials, chemicals and elements known to pose serious risks to human health and the greater ecosystem that are prevalent in the building products industry. Declare labels insure that all materials in a product are disclosed and publically available.

SCS Recycled Content
SCS Global Services offers a Recycled Content Certification for materials that meet a certain minimum percentage of recycled content in their materials. Sabin felt has been certified to meet a minimum of 60% post-consumer recycled polyester staple fiber content in our felt.

DESIGN POTENTIAL
Along with our range of surface styles, Sabin can incorporate custom materials (known as customer’s own materials, or “COM”) into our pendants. This capability allows designers to further personalize each fixture by introducing unique textiles that align with the broader material palette of a space. By integrating COM, our solutions achieve a higher level of cohesion and customization, while still maintaining the performance, craftsmanship, and tailored aesthetic that define Sabin’s work.
Build America Buy
America Act (BABAA)
We are dedicated to supporting local industries and comply with the Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA) where possible. Some modifications may be required in order to achieve compliance and those factory options can be requested. Certain fixture designs do not make this possible, but even in those cases, PET felts, textiles, light engines, steel frames, and other materials are meticulously sourced to ensure quality, sustainability, and humane working conditions.
Sabin’s manufacturing and assembly takes place entirely in our Chicago factory with local craftsmanship. Our commitment to local partnerships underscores our mission to deliver exceptional products while fostering sustainable development and economic resilience.

Since our founding, we haven’t thrown away any felt construction scraps. Through advanced machine imaging, we identify and nest designs that perfectly fit each piece of scrap, allowing us to reuse materials efficiently and reduce waste.
Additionally, all products are designed with end-of-life in mind, allowing for easy disassembly and full recyclability. We consider the complete product life-cycle because we believe in respectful material handling and manufacturing practices.
